Love Like Emily

Emily Hogye was an avid horse woman, heart and soul, whole-heartedly dedicated to living and breathing all things horses.

Emily was a part of Vaulting's Team USA who brought home the Bronze Medal from the World Vaulting Championships in 2008, and the Gold Medal from the 2010 Alltech/FEI World Equestrian Games.

Along with vaulting, Emily was an avid rider and equestrian. She was rated up to the C1 level in Pony Club, and enjoyed a very wide variety of different western and English disciplines. Emily had a strong love and passion for Dressage, as well as for rescuing and rehabbing Mustangs and Off the Track Thoroughbreds. She was hard working, dedicated, determined, and not afraid of a challenge.

Emily was a riding instructor and vaulting coach. She loved teaching and mentoring young, up-and-coming equestrians and helping them to establish a strong connection and relationship with their horse and develop their skills and abilities as equestrians themselves.

It is our honor to introduce the “Love Like Emily” buckle to the 2024 Mustang Showcase, in memory of Emily and the positive impact she had on so many; people and horses alike.

The Love Like Emily buckle will be awarded to the Mustang Showcase participant who the Wild Heart Board Members feel embodies the same passion for horses and strength of character that Emily did. The Board Members and judges will be watching the riders throughout the day, noticing those who not only ride well, but who conduct themselves with the highest level of sportsmanship, treating their horse and all those around them with love.
